Fannie Mae Publishes Multifamily Green MBS Energy Metrics Report
For Multifamily MBS collateralized by one of Fannie Mae’s Multifamily Green loans, property owners are required to report the property's annual ENERGY STAR® Score1 and Source Energy Use Intensity (EUI) for tracking of energy performance metrics over the life of the loan. These Multifamily Green MBS are backed by multifamily properties that must meet at least one of two criteria:
- possess a nationally recognized Green Building Certification; and/or
- use a portion of the loan proceeds to make property improvements that target specific reductions in energy and/or water use (Green Rewards and Green Preservation Plus).
Today, Fannie Mae provides these expanded green metric disclosures to increase transparency in our Multifamily Green MBS. In addition to the at-issuance green metrics2, investors now have access to the ongoing green metrics via the Multifamily Green MBS Energy Metrics Report. This Report contains the most recent ENERGY STAR Score and Source EUI data for properties backing Fannie Mae’s Green MBS. The metrics provided in this report, as well as future ongoing green disclosures, will be included in our disclosure application, DUS Disclose®, sometime next year.
