Fannie Mae Announces Desktop Underwriter Version 12.0

Fannie Mae recently announced updates to its Single-Family automated underwriting system, Desktop Underwriter® (DU®), with the release of Version 12.0. These enhancements reflect Fannie Mae's ongoing commitment to managing mortgage credit risk and being a reliable source of mortgage financing for the U.S. housing system.  

During the weekend of January 11, 2025, we will implement DU V. 12.0, introducing:

• Updates to the DU risk assessment and risk factors evaluated by DU, considering changes in market conditions and updated loan performance data,
• Enhancements in support of increasing access to credit for populations such as those with limited or no credit histories or borrowers that could benefit from DU's positive rent payment history and Cashflow assessment capabilities, and
• Technical updates that will enable the potential for more frequent adjustments to the DU Risk Assessment in response to changing market conditions.
